Custom Bogen Tube Amplifier in Vintage B&H Cabinet
Item - BBHA10C
This Excellent 10 Watt Custom Bogen CHB-10A Amplifier has been Custom Fit into a Vintage Bell & Howell “Filmosound” Speaker Cabinet which measures 17” tall, 16” wide, 10 1/2” deep and with the amplifier inside weighs 25 pounds. The sturdy cabinet is in good cosmetic condition but does show signs of it's age and has some off color paint in places over the entire cabinet. The inside of the cabinet is in good condition and is lined with a felt material which is intact and in good shape. The back cover has a hinge along one side and a pair of heavy duty clasps on the opposite side which keep the cabinet securely closed when playing or in transit.
The original B&H speaker has been replaced with a 12” Vintage Heppner Alnico Speaker which has a Rippled cone and delivers a nice Fat output with excellent breakup for Harp. The amp chassis fits perfectly into this cabinet as if it were actually designed for it. The output can be set for any load from 4 to 16 Ohms so you can easily plug in an external speaker if you need to in place of the internal speaker. It is currently set to 16 Ohms to match the Heppner 12" speaker in the cabinet
The amplifier has a 12AX7 preamp tube and a 6GT5A Power Tube but can also support a 7868 Power Tube (which it was originally designed to use).
The amplifier is very easy to setup for virtually any microphone by simply adjusting the Microphone Volume Control and Treble Rolloff to get the desired tone and Output Level and the 2nd volume Control can be used as a Presence Control when there is nothing plugged into the corresponding input. Changing that control can really have an effect on the sound of the amplifier.
